The affirmation of someone’s life can be carried out in many ways and in many forms. There is no longer one set pattern that “ought” to take place or one type of location that is more “right” than another. Our goal is to provide a service or event in a setting that is in keeping with the wishes of the deceased or the ones making the arrangements.

At Your Service can provide most types of services you request (see our Types of Services link). We can also be contacted to provide consultation on how to put an event together (see our Consultation link). This service is particularly helpful where the event will take place in a non-traditional setting.

The process of arranging for a life recognition event starts with a phone call to a funeral home. By law, those institutions must be involved in the disposition of the body of a deceased person. Usually, this leads to a meeting with a funeral director and he/she will help set a service date and will call  At Your Service to confirm a date. However,  you can make the event arrangements yourself and call us directly.

Upon contacting us, Stephen Swift or Sarah Bjorgan from  At Your Service will meet with you within 48 hours, if possible, and together you’ll design the service or plan the event. Stephen or Sarah will come to the home of the one making arrangements and spend time listening to what is desired and offer a service outline that incorporates any wishes or involvement from friends and family. Our events can incorporate such things as special music, speakers, multi media presentations or input from the family. We even offer coaching on preparation or delivery for those who want to participate in the service.

The most important part of this meeting is the way our service provider gets to know the one whose life is to be honored. Our training in getting to the core of a person’s personality and values is the key to making the service personal, appropriate and meaningful.

Once the planning process is complete it will become clear as to whether you will want  At Your Service  to lead the event through performing the service or function as facilitator to the event with other participation.
